UGANDA FOOD FESTIVAL




Usually, when someone thinks of undertaking a safari to Uganda, wildlife tours are looked at as the only experiences one must enjoy and yet there is a lot more in offer in this remarkable country. Culture still features as one of the untapped tourism potentials that await for you to explore while on Uganda safari. Ugandan culture comes in different forms and the most popular one include distinct cultural or historical sites and the others include exploring different cultural/traditional foods. That said, beginning 21st to 23rd September, 2018 Uganda Food Festival will be conducted and this will mark the third edition of Uganda International Cultural Fair. the most significant historical and cultural sites to explore in Uganda include kasubi tombs, Nakayima tree, Mparo tombs, Sezibwa falls, Namugongo shrine, Baker's fort, Wamala tombs, Ndere cultural center, Karambi tombs, Naggalabi Buddo coronation site, Igongo cultural center, Nyero rock painting, Nkokonjeru tombs,. This event will be conducted at Uganda National Museum and the major focus here is largely food. If you always wished to have a taste of different traditional foods in this country then it is high time you realized your dream.

 What is interesting is that all cultures in and beyond Uganda will prepare their cuisines and will be sold to revelers at pocket friendly prices. Among other foods to be sampled here include Kalo, Matooke, Luwombo, bbo, Marakwanga, Nvuluga, malewa and others, all of these will be showcased at the museum. Also, international cuisines across various communities right from Chinese, Turkish, Indian, Rwandan, Ethiopian, Mexican and Kenyan will be exhibited during this event. Samples can be got at shs1000 to enable you sample all cuisines. Besides, various communities will also display their dress codes, cultural music, storytelling, comedy, games, technology, poetry, brews a mention but a few. The entry fee for this event ranges from 2000 for children and 5000 for adults. It is during this event that gorilla conservation coffee will also be showcasing its products. This event was introduced by private sector PFT events and is organized as a public-private sector initiative. It is however intended to promote conservation and development of this country’s diverse cultural heritage as well as its interdependence. This year’s theme is mainly focused on developing cultural sectors for tourism promotion under the ‘Our Diverse Cultures Empowering Each Other. Come and sample Uganda's classic traditional cuisines that will leave you mesmerized!
