Nyakiriga Shrine is by far a powerful place in Japadhola land, Tororo district in Eastern Uganda a land where dreams are made to come true! Is it wealth, blessings or healing that you are looking for? Visit Nyakiriga holy cultural site and fulfill your dreams because many have had remarkable testimonies. History has it that this cult originated from Bugwere and it was later introduced into Japadhola land by a man known as Akure, the son of Mbwekes-a war captive of the Nyapolo clan.

Visitors interested in exploring the magical Nyakiriga Shrine will walk via the village path, isolated homes, rocks, farms and bushes. This cultural site is believed to have 4 gods; Nyakiriga, Othim, Majanga and Bura. While here, you will feel the wave of mystical powers as they sweep across the plains. Walk through the forest to dense vegetation cover and at the shrine, you will be joined or find Odora-the priest and servant of the gods plus other people offering performing rituals. Entrance to this site without permission comes with so many consequences and this can be witnessed by sudden darkness.

At Nyakiriga cultural site, there is a rock outcrop, small pot is buried under a tree and tiny shrines aligned. Once you get at the entrance, Odora will quickly sense your presence and while here, you will be asked to present your sacrifice and remove the shoes prior getting in. Locals usually take sacrifices especially goats, chicken, cow and local beer brewed with no cassava flour. The cows and goats are speared to death and chicken heads are cut on the altar. Usually, the locals offer sacrifices to the gods so as to live peacefully with the spirits of their ancestors. They visit this site to get blessings, jobs, wealth and remove curses. The gods can decide how much you should provide. This shrine is as old as the Japadhola migration in the 16th century.
